Fencing Ready for 45th Annual Coach Nikki Franke Classic

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple fencing team is set to close out the preseason with the 45th annual Coach Nikki Franke Classic (formerly the Temple Open) on Oct. 25-26 at the Liacouras Center. The Classic will consist of 27 competing teams, including Boston College, Duke University, University of Florida, and more. The Temple women will compete on just the Saturday.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Foil at 8 a.m.
Épée at 9:30 a.m.
Sabre at 12:30 p.m.
ABOUT THE OWLS
Temple Fencing ended the 2024-25 season with a 33-11 overall record.
The Owls beat several nationally ranked teams, including #6 Duke, #2 Notre Dame, #10 Ohio State, and #8 Cornell amongst others.
The team was ranked 8th in the nation before claiming the NIWFA Championship.
Now Sophomore epeeist Victoria Doroshkevich was named the Women's Epee Newcomer of the Year by the United States Fencing Coaches Association.
Former Owl Constanca Dimas and current Owl Grace Smith added a second-place finish in Foil and an eighth-place finish in Épée, respectively, at last year's Coach Nikki Franke Classic.
