Owls Set For Split Weekend Against Charlotte And ECU

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's volleyball will have a split weekend, hosting Charlotte on Friday at noon before heading to Greenville, North Carolina, to face ECU on Sunday at noon. The Owls enter the week riding momentum from two home victories over UAB and Memphis.

NEWS IN THE NEST
Sophomore outside hitter Christiana Greene powered Temple's offense with a dominant weekend performance, totaling 38 kills (4.22 per set) across two wins. She delivered a career-high 22 kills against Memphis and notched her first career double-double with 22 kills and 12 digs, adding four aces and eight total blocks on the weekend. Greene averaged 5.17 points per set, leading all players in scoring.

Junior setter Lexi Yoza directed Temple's attack, dishing out 58 assists (6.44 per set). She tallied 28 assists versus UAB and a season-best 30 assists against Memphis, adding 14 digs and one ace.

Freshman setter Daniella Gonzalez Murati provided a strong secondary setting option, contributing 32 assists (4.57 per set) while hitting .432 over seven sets. She posted 21 assists and five digs in the five-set win over UAB before adding 11 assists against Memphis.

Libero Qairo Bentley anchored the Temple defense with a team-best 34 digs (3.78 per set) and a perfect 1.000 reception percentage. Bentley recorded a season-high 25 digs in the win over Memphis and added nine digs versus UAB, also contributing two aces.

Scouting Charlotte
Charlotte is coming off a four-set loss to USF, where standout graduate student Annika Thompson recorded 14 digs. This season, Thompson ranks fourth in the NCAA, averaging 5.26 digs per set. In the previous matchup earlier this month, Charlotte recorded 14 blocks, limiting Temple to just 38 kills. The 49ers lead the conference in blocking, averaging 2.84 blocks per set. Charlotte is guided by first-year head coach Benavia Jenkins.

All-time vs Charlotte
Earlier this season, Charlotte won the match in three sets; however, Temple leads the all-time series 13-7.

Scouting ECU
East Carolina is coming off a three-set loss to USF, where the Pirates struggled offensively, hitting .059. In that match, Aulie Huff led ECU with nine kills, hitting .318. When ECU traveled to McGonigle Hall earlier this season, they pulled out a five-set win, highlighted by Carlia Northcross' 11 kills with zero errors, hitting .733. The Pirates rank second in the conference in service aces and recorded 10 in their last meeting with the Owls. Head coach Adler Augustin is in his sixth season at the helm.

East Carolina improved to 12-9 in the all-time series and has won the last four matchups.
