Last Time Out
- Temple enters Wednesday's matchup with Hofstra looking to rebound from a hard-fought 76–71 loss to Boston College at the Liacouras Center.
- After BC opened with a 15–8 edge, AJ Smith sparked a 10–0 Temple run with a three-point play to pull the Owls even at 20. The teams traded shots in the paint for much of the half, and the Eagles carried a 36–31 lead into halftime.
- Temple quickly erased the deficit to start the second half, tying the game at 41 on an Aiden Tobiason dunk. A sequence featuring a Derrian Ford and-one, a block from Mohamed Keita, and a Tobiason four-point play kept the Owls within striking distance.
- Boston College responded with an 8–0 surge, highlighted by jumpers from Mark Radunovic and Luka Toews, to gain separation entering the final eight minutes. The Eagles then converted five straight field goals down the stretch to hold off a late Temple push.
- Derrian Ford led the Owls with 18 points, while Gavin Griffiths added 16 with four second-half threes. Masiah Gilyard delivered an efficient lift off the bench with six points on 2-for-2 shooting and five rebounds.
- Now 2–1, Temple returns to the Liacouras Center on Wednesday night to host Hofstra in its final contest of a four-game homestand.
Scouting Hofstra
- Hofstra enters Wednesday's matchup with a 2–2 record, earning wins over Molloy (95–61) and Bucknell (83–77) while falling to UCF (82–78) and Iona (81–73).
- The Pride are led by a productive backcourt in Cruz Davis and freshman Preston Edmead, who are combining to average 35 points per game.
- Head coach Speedy Claxton's roster features nine newcomers, including six transfers and three freshmen. Four of the transfers — Brandon Morgan, Biggie Patterson, Joshua Aaron Reaves and A.J. Will — arrive with prior Division I experience.
- Edmead headlines the freshman class alongside Victory Onuetu (Spain) and Jaeden Roberts (Connecticut).
- Temple and Hofstra last met during the 2024–25 season, with the Owls earning a 60–42 road victory behind a defensive effort that held the Pride to 25 percent shooting while forcing nine turnovers. Jamal Mashburn Jr. and Quante Berry paced Temple with 12 and 10 points.
- Claxton, now in his fifth season leading the program, is one of the most decorated players in Hofstra history. He holds school records in career assists (660) and steals (288) and owns an 83–54 mark as head coach, highlighted by a 25–10 campaign in 2022–23
