PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's basketball (3–3) fell to Villanova (4–2), 88–58, on the road Saturday night at Finneran Pavilion. Tristen Taylor led the Owls with 15 points, while Felicia Jacobs added a career-high 10.

How it happened
First-quarter
  • Saniyah Craig opened the scoring for Temple with a drive to the basket.
  • Villanova responded immediately, converting an Owls turnover into a fast-break basket by Jasmine Bascoe.
  • Following Craig's basket, Temple endured a two-minute scoring drought until Taylor was fouled on a drive and sank both free throws.
  • Despite those points, Temple went more than three minutes without a field goal.
  • Kaylah Turner connected on a three-pointer to give the Owls a three-point lead, but another turnover allowed the Wildcats to trim it back to one.
  • A Jaleesa Molina offensive rebound and putback after a Jacobs miss ended a two-minute Temple drought, putting the Owls up 11–8.
  • Raynne Allen hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 11.
  • After another Temple turnover, Villanova scored to tie the game at 13 heading into the second quarter.

Second-Quarter
  • Taylor found Craig under the basket to give Temple a 15–13 lead to start the quarter.
  • Villanova's Allen answered with back-to-back threes, and Brynn McCurry added an easy layup to push Nova ahead 21–15.
  • At the media timeout, the Wildcats were on an 8–0 run while Temple again went scoreless for over two minutes.
  • Taylor set up Molina for a fast-break layup to cut the deficit to 21–17.
  • At the 3:48 mark, Villanova extended its run to 8–0 with baskets from Brooke Bender and McCurry, making it 31–19.
  • Allen and Bascoe then knocked down threes as part of a 6–0 spurt. The Wildcats mounted a 14–1 run over three-plus minutes, going 6-for-6 from the floor.
  • During that stretch, Temple went nearly four minutes without a point and committed four straight turnovers.
  • Allen closed the half with a buzzer-beating three to give Villanova a 44–24 advantage at the break.

Third-quarter
  • Taylor scored the first points of the half for Temple, while Denae Carter knocked down two free throws for Villanova.
  • Savannah Curry fought for an offensive rebound and converted the putback to make it 48–28.
  • Kelsey Joens scored on a cut to the basket to push the Nova lead to 50–29.
  • Dani Ceseretti added another layup, giving the Wildcats a 57–33 lead.
  • Coming out of the media timeout, Villanova was shooting 5–7 in the quarter, but the Owls responded with three straight baskets—another from Taylor, a Brianna Mead three, and a bucket from Jacobs—to cut the deficit to 62–42.

Fourth-quarter
  • Villanova opened the fourth on a 6–0 run with baskets from Carter and McCurry, while Temple went scoreless for the first two and a half minutes.
