Temple fell to Drexel, 52–59, on Sunday in the third-place game of the Big 5 Classic at Villanova.
Kaylah Turner led the Owls with 16 points and 3 assists, while Jaleesa Molina had 10 points and 8 rebounds.
Turner scored 8 points in the fourth quarter, going 3-for-3 from the field and 2-for-2 from three.
Temple received 10 points from the bench, while Drexel got 22 bench points.
The Owls went 2-for-6 from behind the arc in the second half.
Temple shot 2-for-11 from three and 9-for-26 from the field in the half.
In the third quarter, Temple went 4-for-11 from the field and finished with a game-low 10 points.
Temple led for 27:25 of the 40-minute contest.
For the first time this season, the Owls attempted fewer than 10 free throws, going 6-for-7 from the stripe.

Scouting the Rams

The Rams are currently 3-6 on the season and are on a five-game losing streak. They are second-to-last in the A-10 but were projected to finish seventh in the preseason poll. They ended last season with an overall record of 12-19 and a conference record of 6-12.
VCU has returned senior guard Mary-Anna Asare, who was named to the Preseason All-Conference First Team after averaging 16 points and 4.2 rebounds per game last year.
Asare currently leads the Rams in points with 86 and has been averaging 17.2 points per game. However, she has missed the last three contests for VCU. Katarina Knezevic has stepped up in her absence by averaging 12 points per game and currently has 84 through seven games.
Knezevic is second on the team in shooting from behind the arc, going 13-33 (.394). She is second on the team in rebounds with 32 and leads the team in turnovers with 27.
Last season, the Rams hosted the Owls and lost 55-59. These two teams first met in 2013, with VCU edging out the Owls by a score of 53-51.

Jaleesa Molina, Tristen Taylor, and Kaylah Turner have been named team captains for the 2025–26 season.
Taylor and Molina are the only returning starters from the 2024–25 roster.
Taylor averaged 6.7 points and a team-high 3.6 assists per game last season.
Molina averaged 7.4 points and 7 rebounds per game while shooting 52.5% from the field.
Turner appeared in 31 games (two starts), averaging 10.1 points per game — third-highest on the team — while shooting 41% from the field and 37% from three.
