Women’s Track & Field Travels to Boston for Meet This Weekend

PHILADELPHIA - After a week off, the Temple women's track and field team is set to compete in the Showdown at The Heights, hosted by Boston College at The TRACK at New Balance. The two-day event will take place on Friday, February 7th and Saturday, February 8th.

Previewing the Owls
> In their last competition, the Owls faced off against more than 15 teams, recording four personal bests. Currently, seven Temple athletes are ranked in the top 20 within The American Athletic Conference. Rankings include Nya Browne, who sits 8th in the 60-meter hurdles and 13th in the 200-meter dash, Amira Green, ranked 4th in high jump, and Aliza White Vega, who holds 7th in pole vault. Reagan Schwartz ranks 12th in the triple jump, Zuzanna Bak is 19th in the 800 meters, and the Owls' 4x400 meter relay team is ranked 11th.
> Temple will be represented by 17 athletes this weekend.
> In the field events, five Owls will compete: Olabisi Adams (long jump) Amira Green (high jump), Reagan Schwartz (long jump and triple jump), Deja Scott (long jump), Reece Sullivan (pole vault), and Aliza White Vegas (pole vault).
> In the short sprints, Nya Browne will race in the 200 meters. Allyson Metzger will compete in the 60 meters and 200 meters. Mariah Jameson will accompany Metzger in the 200 meter dash.
> For the hurdles, Browne and Chloe Smith will race in the 60 meter hurdles.
> Six athletes will race in the 400 meters, Grace Hickman, Jayla Green, Mariah Jameson, Jade Pope, Maliah Powell and Chloe Smith.
> Maya Gomes will race in the open 800 meters.
> A group of four Owls will represent Temple in the distance medley relay to close out the meet.

After this weekend's meet, Temple will head to the Ott Center on February 14th for the Indoor Classic at Penn, hosted by Widener University.
