Golf Returns to North Carolina For ECU Intercollegiate This Week

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The Temple men's golf team will play its first of two straight events in the state of North Carolina, beginning Monday with the ECU Intercollegiate at Brook Valley. The Owls will join 15 other programs for the two-day event

ABOUT THE OWLS
  • Senior Jake Naese was the top overall finisher for the Owls in its last competition, the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate in South Carolina on March 10-11.
  • Naese was tied for eighth individually after the first round of competition, and settled for an 18th-place showing at 148.
  • Classmate Ethan Whitney carded the low round of the tournament for Temple, totaling a two-over par 72 in second-round action.
  • The Owls return to Greenville, N.C. for the second time in 2024-25, and will look to recapture the record-breaking magic they experienced during the second round of play at the Ironwood Collegiate Classic in October.
  • Temple set a new school mark with a 14-under par 274 and four different Owls finished in red numbers, including an impressive seven-under par 65 from Whitney.
  • His round matched an over 50-year record set by Walter Brown at the 1973 Yale Invitational, who also recorded a seven-under par round.
  • Junior Aidan Emmerich totaled a four-under par 68, senior Joey Morganti shot three-under par 69, and sophomore Michael Vital carded a one-under 71.

  • In addition to Temple and the host school East Carolina, the field includes Barton, West Georgia, Morehead State, Gardner-Webb, Fairleigh Dickinson, UCF, Old Dominion, Oakland, Columbia, Bellarmine, UConn, Dartmouth, IU Indy, and Queens Univ.
