GREENVILLE, N.C. - The Temple University men's golf team played close to two full rounds at the East Carolina University Intercollegiate on Monday, with a pair of Owls leading the way. Junior Aidan Emmerich had a consistent day of action and is currently tied for 10th at one-over par while senior Jake Naese is one shot behind him at two-over. As a team, Temple is tied for eighth place.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Naese was the story through the first 18 holes of play, as he shot three-under par 69 to sit one shot off the pace heading into the second round.
The senior was sparked by an eagle on the par-5 second hole, one of five under-par holes through the first 10 for the Bradenton, Fla. native.
Emmerich carded a one-over par 73 for round one, including two birdies and 13 pars as he ranked in a tie for 13th place entering his second 18 holes of action.
Playing as an individual, sophomore Michael Vital was two-under par through nine holes and closed his round at three-over par 75.
The second round was nearly played to completion, with most golfers two or three holes shy of 36 on the day.
Emmerich is even par through 16 holes of play as the course toughened up later in the day. Senior Ethan Whitney is four-over par through 15.
UCF leads the team competition by 12 shots over East Carolina, with the Pirates' Nathan O'Neal holding a three-shot lead individually at five-under par.
