Men's Golf Vaults Up Leaderboard on Final Day of ECU Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Led by a pair of top-ten finishers, the Temple University men's golf team put together an impressive third round at the ECU Intercollegiate on Tuesday. The Owls tied for the second-best team score of the day at 296 and moved up to fourth place overall for the tournament.Â
Senior Jake Naese carded three birdies against a single bogey to register a two-under par 70, which tied him for the best individual round of the day with ECU's Philip Bondestad. Junior Aidan Emmerich also had a standout day, firing an even-par 72 and finishing in a tie for eighth overall with Naese.

- Naese was consistent throughout the three-round event, totaling 36 pars to rank in a tie for 12th individually.Â
- The Bradenton, Fla. product also took advantage of the par-3 holes on the course, typing for 6th out of 100 golfers in the field with an even-par score.
- The two-under par 70 vaulted Naese up 11 spots in the individual standings to put him into a tie for eighth place, the top finish of his Temple career.
- Emmerich continued his strong play this spring, and really turned the tides over the final six holes of his third round.
- Through 12 holes, Emmerich was three-over par before a birdie on the par-4 14th began a birdie-bogey-birdie-birdie-birdie-par finish that brought him back to level on the round.
- The tie for eighth place marked the third time over four spring events that Emmerich has landed in the top 20 individually.
- In addition to the duo near the top of the standings, sophomore Michael Vital closed with a 76 in round three and recorded a top-50 showing at 46th overall.
- UCF won the team title by 12 strokes over the host Pirates, while ECU's Nathan O'Neal earned medalist honors at five-under par 211.
- Temple returns to North Carolina for the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate, beginning on Friday, March 28 in Snow Hill, N.C.
