Women's Tennis To Host Grand Opening of New Complex Ahead of Siena Match

PHILADELPHIA – Temple University tennis will celebrate a historic moment on Friday, March 28, with the grand opening of a brand-new, on-campus tennis complex at 11:00 a.m., ahead of a tennis doubleheader against Siena College, where the women's team will compete at 2:00 p.m.
SCOUTING TEMPLE
- During the match against Villanova, Temple secured the early lead by winning two of three doubles matches, with Maria Martinez/Martyna Mackiewicz (No. 2) and Nina Andreoni/Irmak Ozturk (No. 3) clinching victories.
- Greece native Marianthi Christoforidou (No. 4) dominated with a straight-set win, while Maria Martinez (No. 5) fought through three sets to add another point for the Owls.
- With the match tied 3-3, the deciding battle at No. 6 saw freshman Nina Andreoni push to three sets before falling in a tight 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 loss, securing the win for Villanova.
SCOUTING SIENA
- At the match against Mount St. Mary's (Md.), the Saints claimed the doubles point with wins from Giralt/Manuela Gomez (No. 1) and De Faber-Schumacher/Reegan Mullaney (No. 3), setting the tone for the match.
- Laia Giralt and Madeline De Faber-Schumacher led Siena with wins in both singles and doubles. At the same time, Zaara Omar secured the clinching singles victory at No. 3.
- Playing in harsh conditions, Siena battled through a tight 4-3 victory at Mount St. Mary's. This was their third consecutive one-point win, and they improved to 2-0 in MAAC play.

Owls will travel to Lawrenceville, NJ, to take on Rider University on Tuesday, April 1, at 2:00 PM.
