Women's Tennis Triumphs against Siena on Grand Opening Day

PHILADELPHIA – Women's tennis snapped a three-match losing streak with a dominant 7-0 victory over Siena, securing the doubles point and sweeping all six singles matches. The match took place on the grand opening ceremony day, playing on the brand new courts.

How It Happen
- The Owls came out strong in doubles, sweeping all three courts to take the opening point. Thamara Kawaratani and Marianthi Christoforidou set the tone with a 6-2 victory at No. 1 over Andrea Vargas and Zaara Omar. Irmak Ozturk and Nina Andreoni followed with a convincing 6-1 win at No. 3 against Camilla Bonini and Madeline De Faber-Schumacher.
- Temple carried the momentum into singles play, winning all six matches. Ozturk led the charge with a hard-fought 6-4, 7-5 victory over Giralt at No. 1, while Kelly Richter rallied for a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2 against Vargas. Christoforidou added to the tally with a 6-2, 6-3 triumph at No. 3 over Omar.
- Kawaratani secured a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 4 against Mullaney. Martinez earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 5 against De Faber-Schumacher, and Andreoni closed out the match with a commanding 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 6 against Bonini. With this win, the Owls ended their three-match skid and look to build on this momentum in their upcoming matches.
