Whitney Near Top of Leaderboard After Round One of Princeton Invitational

4.12.25 | Men's Golf

PRINCETON, N.J. - Senior Ethan Whitney stands in a tie for third place individually after day one of the Princeton Invitational, held on Saturday at Springdale Country Club. Whitney led the Owls to a score of 291 as a team, just three shots off the lead held by Rutgers. The first round of the event was delayed by over five hours by weather, resulting in the cancelation of the first round.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Whitney carded three birdies and two bogeys on his one-under par round of 70, and was one of just five players in the field of 75 to finish under par.
  • Classmate Joey Morganti is also in the top 10 individually following a one-over par 72, a round that included a team-high four birdies.
  • Morganti's four birdies puts him in a tie for third place for most birdies in the field, with Whitney and junior Aidan Emmerich tied for seventh with three birdies apiece.
  • Emmerich is one shot behind Morganti at 73 and stands in a tie for 14th place for the tournament.
  • Seton Hall's David Lally fired a four-under par 67 and is two shots in front of Reed Greyserman of Princeton for the individual lead.
  • Rutgers shot 288 as a team and is closely followed by Princeton at 289. Seton Hall and Yale are tied in third place at 290, one shot in front of the Owls.
