Owls Complete First Round of AAC Men's Golf Championships

SARASOTA, Fla. - The Temple University men's golf team rounded out the first day of action at the American Athletic Conference Championships on Monday. The Owls, playing the Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Course, were led by junior Aidan Emmerich and senior Jake Naese, who shot 73 and 74, respectively.Â

- Emmerich recorded a team-high three birdies on the day, as the Owls totaled just eight in total by their five competitors.
- Both Emmerich and Naese closed out their front nine, and the back nine of the course, at even-par 36.
- On the flip side, senior Ethan Whitney totaled an even-par 36 on the front nine of the course - the lone Temple player to shoot par or better over those nine holes.
- As a team, the Owls shot 299 and are in 11th place overall.Â
- South Florida, ranked 33rd in the country heading into the event, leads after the first round of the tournament by four strokes over Memphis.
- A trio of players are five-under par to sit atop the individual leaderboard.
- The second round of the AAC Men's Golf Championships will ake place on Tuesday, April 22, beginning at 8:30 a.m. ET.
