PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia BIG 5 announced on Thursday that Temple University men's basketball graduate students Jamal Mashburn Jr. and Steve Settle III were recognized with annual awards.
Jamal Mashburn Jr. was named to the All-Big 5 First Team, while Settle III was one of two recipients to earn honorable mention.

An Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List honoree, Mashburn Jr. averaged 22.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 23 games during his lone season in Cherry and White. The Miami native ranked second nationally in scoring and led the American Athletic Conference before suffering a lower-body injury that forced him to miss nine of the final 10 games of the 2024–25 season.

A two-time AAC Player of the Week selection, Mashburn Jr. scored 20-plus points in 16 contests and topped 30 points three times, including a career-best 34-point effort in a double-overtime win over Charlotte. In 10 AAC games, he averaged 24.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists. Mashburn Jr. has also received NABC All-District First Team, All-AAC Second Team and AAC All-Newcomer Team honors this season.

Settle III averaged 12.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per game while leading the team in both rebounding and blocked shots. He ranked third on the Owls in scoring and reached double figures in 24 games, including 12 straight to end his collegiate career. Settle recorded five or more rebounds in 21 contests and tallied four double-doubles on the year, most notably a 21-point, 10-rebound effort at South Florida on Feb. 6.

Efficient on both ends of the floor, Settle shot 47.8 percent from the field, 41.6 percent from three-point range and 73.6 percent at the free-throw line. He was even sharper in AAC play, connecting on 50.8 percent of his shots and 46.6 percent from beyond the arc. Settle posted a Temple career-high 22 points in the AAC Second Round against Tulsa, going 6-of-12 from the floor and 8-of-10 at the line. He also made a career-best six three-pointers (6-of-10) in a win over Rhode Island on Dec. 21.
