PHILADELPHIA – Temple University men's basketball head coach Adam Fisher announced Tuesday the addition of University of Illinois Chicago guard Jordan Mason to the 2025-26 roster.
Mason, who will have one year of eligibility remaining, spent his freshman and sophomore seasons at Texas State.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Jordan and his family to our Temple family," said Fisher. "Jordan's playmaking ability and finishing around the rim will be a major asset for us next season. Jordan has a great feel for the game and has continued to improve every year throughout his college career. We are looking forward to having Jordan wear the Cherry and White next season."
Mason started 20 games and appeared in 30 for UIC last season. The San Antonio, Texas, native averaged 9.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.2 steals in his lone season in the Windy City. He ranked third in the Missouri Valley Conference in assist/turnover ratio (2.13) and ninth in assists per game.
He reached double figures in scoring 11 times, including back-to-back 20-point performances against Southern Illinois (23 points) and Bradley (22 points). Leading the Flames in assists, Mason recorded five or more assists in nine games, including a season-best nine against Evansville.
"I chose Temple because the coaching staff believes in me and can help me continue to grow on and off the court," said Mason. "I'm excited for the opportunity to be a part of the Temple family."
As a sophomore at Texas State in 2022-23, Mason led the Bobcats in scoring with 12.9 points per game. He also contributed 3.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals in 29 games. He posted four 20-point outings, including a 25-point effort against Troy in the Sun Belt Tournament. He was named to the Sun Belt All-Tournament Team after averaging 16.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.3 steals over four games in Pensacola, Florida.
As a freshman in 2021-22, Mason started 19 of 32 games at Texas State, averaging 6.3 points and 2.4 rebounds.
At Clark High School in San Antonio, Mason was named to the TABC 6A All-State Team and earned all-region honors in his final two seasons. He was also selected to the San Antonio Express-News Super Team as a junior and senior. As a senior, he averaged 23.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.8 steals per game.
Mason is the ninth newcomer to sign with Temple this offseason. He joins transfers Jamai Felt (Boston, Mass./Bowling Green), Derrian Ford (Magnolia, Ark./Arkansas State), Masiah Gilyard (Brooklyn, N.Y./Manhattan), Gavin Griffiths (Simsbury, Conn./Nebraska), CJ Hines (Atlanta, Ga./Alabama State) and Spencer Mahoney (Brooklyn, N.Y./California), along with incoming freshmen Ayuba Bryant (Antwerp, Belgium) and Cam Wallace (Philadelphia, Pa./Westtown).
