5.4.26 | Men's Basketball
Scott is a two-time South Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year
PHILADELPHIA – South Carolina transfer Cam Scott will join the Temple University men's basketball team for the 2026-27 season, head coach Adam Fisher announced Monday.
Scott, a 6-6 guard from Lexington, S.C., spent his first two collegiate seasons in Columbia, S.C. He appeared in 26 games as a true freshman during the 2024-25 season with the Gamecocks, averaging 2.5 points and 1.3 rebounds per game. He redshirted during the 2025-26 campaign.
"We're very excited to welcome Cam to our Temple family," Fisher said. "He is a talented guard with great size who can impact the game in so many ways. He understands what it takes to compete at a high level and brings a team-first mentality to our program. We believe his best basketball is ahead of him."
During the 2024-25 season, Scott scored at least five points in seven contests, including a season-high nine points against Radford. He went a perfect 3-for-3 from the floor against Arkansas in the SEC Tournament, totaling eight points and four rebounds in just eight minutes of action.
"I felt Temple was the best opportunity where I can develop into the player I want to become," Scott said. "I know the coaching staff will continuously push me and challenge me to be the best I can be. Between the family environment, the city of Philadelphia and the pursuit of greatness, I believe Temple will be a perfect fit."
Scott was a consensus four-star prospect and was ranked as the top player in South Carolina by 247Sports and On3. He was tabbed as a top-50 recruit by both organizations, ranking No. 47 overall by 247Sports and as the No. 6 shooting guard, and No. 36 overall by On3 and as the No. 8 shooting guard.
As a senior at Lexington High School, Scott averaged 22.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 2.5 assists per game. He led the Wildcats to a 28-2 record and a 5A state championship and was named the South Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.
As a junior, Scott averaged 19.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.4 steals per game. He helped the Wildcats to a 20-7 record and the semifinals of the state tournament that season and was named the 2023 South Carolina 5A Region 4 Player of the Year.
A four-time all-state selection, Scott closed his career as Lexington's all-time leading scorer with 2,475 points.
Scott participated in the USA Basketball U16 National Team training camp in 2021 and was named a finalist for the USA Men's U19 National Team in 2023.
Scott joins fellow transfer signees Dallis Dillard (Harlem, N.Y./IUP), Deuce Drake (Oak Park, Mich./Indiana), Baboucarr Njie (Dayton, Ohio/UTSA) and Dez White (Jefferson City, Mo./Oregon State), returners Gavin Griffiths, Cam Wallace and Olin Chamberlain Jr., and incoming freshman Derrick Morton-Rivera on the 2026-27 roster.
