Big 5 Announces 2025-26 Women's Basketball Opponents

PHILADELPHIA – The schedule for the 2025–26 Big 5 women's basketball season was announced Thursday morning.
For the second straight year, all six of the city's NCAA Division I women's basketball programs will be divided into two pods of three teams. Each team will play the other two in its pod in a round-robin format at on-campus sites. Based on those results, matchups will be set for a tripleheader at Villanova's Finneran Pavilion on Sunday, Dec. 7.
The first-place teams from each pod will meet for the Big 5 championship, while the second-place finishers will compete for third place. The remaining teams will play for fifth.
For the upcoming season, one pod will include Drexel, Penn and Saint Joseph's. The other will feature La Salle, Temple, and Villanova.
Temple is scheduled to host La Salle on Nov. 14 and will travel to Villanova on Nov. 22. The Owls captured the inaugural Big 5 title last season, defeating Villanova 76–62 and finishing undefeated in Big 5 play with wins over Drexel, La Salle, and Villanova.
