Owls Cruise to 4-1 Road Win at Lehigh

9.14.25 | Field Hockey

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Holding a 1-0 lead at halftime, the Temple University field hockey team outscored Lehigh, 3-1, in the second half to secure a 4-1 road victory Sunday afternoon at Ulrich Field.

The Owls (5-1) continued their strong start to the season, while the Mountain Hawks (1-4) dropped their fourth straight contest.

Mathea Lassalle led Temple with two goals, while Peyton Rieger and Mara Lenting also scored. Marsha Ariesen recorded two assists, with Agustina Tucceri and Lenting adding one apiece.

How It Happened

For the second straight game, Rieger opened the scoring in the first quarter. Off a penalty corner inserted by Lenting, Ariesen and Tucceri maintained possession before Rieger fired home the opener.

After a scoreless second quarter, the Owls doubled their lead on another penalty corner, with Lassalle finishing a pass from Ariesen to make it 2-0.

With 55 seconds left in the third quarter, Lenting tallied her third goal of the season after Isabella Pisano found the freshman from the Netherlands in front of the cage.

Lehigh avoided a shutout with just over six minutes to play, as Kiki Mes scored the lone Mountain Hawks goal. The Owls responded a minute later, with Lassalle netting her second of the day to cap the 4-1 win.

Behind the Numbers

Temple held a 16-2 edge in shots, including 10-2 on goal, and a 5-0 advantage in penalty corners.

Lassalle now leads the Owls with eight points on four goals.

Lenting is tied with Lucia Magro and Rieger for second on the team in points.

Goalkeeper Alex Lepore improved to 5-0, not facing a shot in 45 minutes of action. Isabella Ospitale played the fourth quarter, making one save while conceding the lone goal.
