Temple Blanks Drexel; Rieger Scores Twice to Extend Win Streak to Four
9.16.25 | Field Hockey
PHILADELPHIA – Just hours after being named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, senior midfielder/forward Peyton Rieger tallied both goals in Temple University's 2-0 win over city rival Drexel on Tuesday evening at Buckley Field.
The Owls (6-1) head into BIG EAST play riding a four-game winning streak, while the Dragons (3-3) saw their momentum halted after back-to-back wins over Louisville and Rider.
How It Happened
For the third straight game, Rieger opened the scoring in the first quarter. With just over two minutes remaining, Kathryn Gauvin sent a pass in front of the cage, where Rieger got her stick on it before ripping a shot into the back of the net.

Behind the Numbers
Temple held the edge in shots (7-5), shots on goal (3-2) and penalty corners (4-1).
After being held without a goal through the first four games of the season, Rieger has now scored four times in the past three contests. The Woolwich, N.J., native leads the Owls with 11 points (4G, 3A).
Goalkeeper Alex Lepore (6-0) posted her second shutout in the last three games, making two saves. The sophomore has not allowed a goal in her past three appearances, which include full shutouts against Lafayette and Drexel and three quarters of scoreless play against Lehigh. She has gone 172:43 of game action without conceding, lowering her goals-against average to 1.39 and raising her save percentage to .704.
Drexel entered the matchup with the fifth-longest active regular-season home winning streak in the country at 11 games. Temple began the week tied with UMass and North Carolina for the second-longest active streak nationally (14), trailing only defending national champion Northwestern (22).
