Weekend Guide: Delaware, No. 10 Princeton

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple University field hockey team continues non-conference play with a pair of regional matchups this weekend, hosting Delaware on Friday before traveling to No. 10 Princeton on Sunday.
Temple (5-4, 1-1 BIG EAST) welcomes Delaware (3-5) to Howarth Field on Friday at 4 p.m. for the Owls' Cause Day/Pink Game.
Temple then travels to Princeton, N.J., to face No. 10 Princeton (4-4) at noon Sunday. Princeton hosts Yale on Friday before facing the Owls.
Sunday begins a stretch of three consecutive contests against teams that appeared in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, with UConn and Yale following Princeton on the schedule. The Tigers advanced to the national championship game last season before falling to Northwestern in double overtime.

Cause Day / Pink Game
Friday's matchup against Delaware will serve as Temple's Cause Day/Pink Game, with each student-athlete selecting a cause that has personally impacted them. The Temple Department of Athletics will also recognize and honor breast cancer survivors at halftime. Fans in attendance will also have the opportunity to win a pair of tickets to Dan + Shay at the Highmark Mann Center for the Performing Arts on Oct. 10. To enter the giveaway, visit the marketing table during Friday's game for a chance to win two tickets.

Setting the Table: Sophomore defender Lonneke Kerkhof has been Temple's top distributor through nine games, with four assists.
Going for Three: Temple enters Friday having won back-to-back meetings against Delaware, earning a 2-0 victory in 2023 before taking a 5-4 road win last season. With a win Friday, the Owls would record three consecutive victories over the Blue Hens for the first time since 1984-86, when Temple posted wins of 2-0, 1-0 and 2-1 in three straight meetings.
34 Years Later: Sunday's matchup with Princeton will mark the first meeting between the programs in 34 years. Temple and Princeton last faced each other on Sept. 12, 1992, when the Owls earned a 1-0 victory. Temple's record book lists a 7-5-2 advantage in the series dating back to 1974.
Comeback Owls:Temple has also shown an ability to respond after falling behind, rallying for consecutive comeback victories over Georgetown and Hofstra during its most recent homestand.
Sunday Success: Temple has found its stride on Sundays, going 3-1 this season and winning each of its last three Sunday contests against Wagner, Rider and Hofstra.
