Opening Tip

  • Following a three-game skid with losses to Tulane, North Texas and UAB, the Temple University men's basketball team will look to get back on track Saturday night when the Owls travel to play the Wichita State Shockers on ESPN2.
  • Temple fell 76-71 to UAB at the Liacouras Center after battling in another tight contest that remained within one possession for much of the second half before the Blazers closed the game at the free-throw line.
  • Jordan Mason paced the Owls with 18 points, including 14 in the second half, helping Temple regain a 56-55 lead with 10 minutes remaining before UAB answered late.
  • Derrian Ford added 17 points while Masiah Gilyard chipped in 10, and Jamai Felt recorded a season-high 10 rebounds in the setback. Neither team led by more than four points over the final 10 minutes, as UAB secured the win with a 5-2 run in the closing minute.
  • Temple committed just five turnovers and tied its season high with 52 points in the paint, but could not find productivity from beyond the arc, only shooting 1-15.
  • The Owls now hit the road for a two-game swing, beginning Saturday night at Wichita State.
