Owls Show Strong Fight in Loss to Fordham

PHILADELPHIA- Temples women's volleyball (1-1) fell short to Fordham University(1-1), (19-25,16-25, 25-15,12-25) Saturday afternoon at McGonigle Hall on the second day of the Cherry and White Invitational.
How It Happened
SET 1: (Temple 19, Fordham 25)
Junior Jaya Moore started off scoring for Owls with an assist from Lexi Yoza
Fordham quickly responded to tie the game 3-3
The game was tight until Khenedi Guest got the scoring going again with a kill to go up 7-4
The game had back and forth action highlighted by an emphatic spike from Kennedy Crayton to go up 14-13
At 17-All Fordham went on a 4-0 run and eventually closed out the set with a win
SET 2: (Temple 16, Fordham 25)
Fordham started off Set 2 with an early lead but a strong block by Christiana Green ended the 0-3 run
The set consisted of back and forth action, and eventually saw Fordham holding strong on defense at 7-11
Back to back Blocks by Moore and Hummel lead to a small a come back by the Owls
Defense was the name of the game as Fordham held to win the set 16-25
SET 3: (Temple 25, Fordham 15)
Olivia Hummel got the scoring started early as the Owls took a 7-0 lead
Guest had back to back points to go 9-0
Fordham would eventually stop the bleeding with an ace at 12-1
But the Owls continued to pour it on with points from Guest, Green, and Hummel to bring temple up 18-4, eventually closing out the set to (25-15)
SET 4: (Temple 12, Fordham 25)
Senior Abby Jhun got the Owls out to an early 2-0 lead
Fordham came back to tie the game, till Guest had back to back kills going up 4-2
The action was back and forth till Fordham went on a 5-0 run taking the set to 8-13
Green would eventually stop the run with an athletic spike at 11-16
But Fordham was laser focused and closed out the set to win (12-25)
