PHILADELPHIA - Temple Volleyball (7-4) defeated UMBC (4-5) at home in three sets. Temple was dominate throughout the evening as they carried momentum from their last game into the home match. Junior Jaya Moore was everywhere for the Owls as she led the team in kills and blocks. Sophomore Daniella Gonzalez Murati also made a huge impact as she led the way in the assist and digs department.

Set:1

Jaya Moore and Khenedi Guest picked up where they left off from last night, getting the scoring stated for the Owls as Temple went up early 2-0.
Christiana Greene and Olivia Hummel kept the scoring going as Temple dominated taking a 11-6 lead.
Temples offense was on fire throughout the set as they went on consistent 3-0 and 2-0 runs giving UMBC little breathing room.
The Owls would go on to close out the set 25-18 with a kill from Moore.

Set:2

Early in the set, Guest was a strong defensively as she had two blocks giving Temple a 6-1 lead.
Moore made her presence felt as she recorded back to back kills increasing the advantage to seven as Temple led 10-3.
UMBC was able to gain some momentum midway through the set, as they closed the gap to within four at 19-15, but a block from Greene ended their 0-3 run.
UMBC went on another run and tied the set at 20, until Hummel and Kennedy Crayton recorded back to back points giving the Owls a two point lead. Temple would go on the win the set 25-22.

Set:3

The match was back and forth to start set three. Temple got contributions from the whole lineup, highlighted by Greene's scoring and defense as the Owls lead 9-6.
At the Media timeout, the Owls continued their strong performance with kills from Guest and Moore extending the lead to 15-9.
Temples defense was stout, making life difficult for UMBC as Freshmen Sarah Quarels continued her strong performance from last night, recording back to back blocks giving temple the advantage at 19-10.
UMBC fought their way back into the game closing the distance to within 5, but the Owls were able to close out the set with a win at 25-20.

On Wednesday Temple will travel to Teaneck New Jersey to take on Fairleigh Dickinson at the Bogota Savings Bank Center at 6pm.
