Owls Dominate In First Weekend Of Conference Play

PHILADELPHIA - Temple volleyball(10-4) defeated Charlotte(3-10) in a decisive three set match. Jaya Moore and Christiana Greene controlled the pace of the game as they were responsible for a combined 28 points. Greene stood out with her efficiency as she converted at a clip of .545 to cap off the sweep.

Set:1 (Temple 28 - Charlotte 26)

Kennedy Crayton and Jaya Moore started the scoring for the Owls as temple took an early 4-1 lead.
Khenedi Guest made her impact felt early with back to back points recording a kill and block, giving Temple the advantage at 12-7.
Temple was relentless in their attack, getting contributions for all their starters and forcing errors on Charlotte as they took a commanding 21-15 lead.
Charlotte would make a come back tying the match at 25, but the Owls would go on to win the set 28-26.

Set:2 (Temple 25 - Charlotte 20)

Charlotte started off the set hot taking an early 0-4 lead on Temple, but Christiana Greene stopped their momentum closing the deficit to three at 3-6.
Greene continued to lead the way in scoring for Temple, she had nine kills through two sets as Temple was able to tie the set at 11. From there is was tight, neither team gaining separation until back to back kills from Moore gave the Owls a 20-18 lead.
The Temple come back was capped off with another kill from Greene and an ace by Maddix Taniguchi to give the owls the set win at 25-20. Through two set Greene was converting at an impressive rate of .772.

Set:3 (Temple 25 - Charlotte 17)

The Owls continued their momentum from last set as they got scoring contributions from Hummel, Sinai, Green and Guest as Temple took an early 4-1 lead.
Temples scoring success continued at the media timeout, tt was a complete team effort as they generated points with blocks and forcing errors on Charlotte as the Owls went up 15-9.
Charlotte did all they could to get back into the match but Temple shut the door never letting them within six points. The Owls would go on the win the set 25-17 completing the sweep.

The Owls will travel to south Florida to take on FAU and South Florida University on October 2nd and 4th.
