Honors: 2014 - American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.
2015 (Redshirt Senior): Started eight games at strong safety and served as game captain at Cincinnati ... made three tackles (two solo) and a fumble recovery at Cincinnati to beat the preseason conference favorite for the first time in four tries ... returned defensive PAT at UMass, first in Temple history since 1995 ... missed games 5-7 due to injury ... returned against #9 Notre Dame ... made game-high eight solo tackles at #19 Houston.
2014 (Redshirt Junior): Played in all 12 games, starting six (four at FS and two at SS) ... finished as the team’s sixth leading tackler (45) ... saw extended game action in week 1 after Alex Wells and Nate L. Smith were injured and responded with a game-high 6 tackles ... started his first collegiate game in week 2 vs. Navy and recorded a career-high 10 tackles and 6 solo ... entered the season with 15 career tackles and surpassed that by week 2.
2013 (Redshirt Sophomore): Played in first 9 games … saw action at safety and played on all special teams units.
2012 (Redshirt Freshman): Did not play.
2011 (Freshman): Redshirted.
Prep School: Played safety for coach Bill Chaplick at Milford Academy during the 2010 season … team went 10-1 … had 21 tackles, 12 break-ups, and 6 INTs.
High School: Two-year letterwinner at running back and defensive back for coach Cory Davies at Howell HS … team captain … Monmouth All-Area Team honoree … Captain’s Award recipient … team went 9-2 in 2009 en route to the American Division championship of the Shore Conference … finished prep career with 725 all-purpose yards and 13 TDs … as a junior, was the Mr. Rebel Award recipient as the biggest playmaker … also participated in basketball.
Personal: Born William G. Hayes on 6/17/92 in Lakewood, NJ … parents are Celeste and David Hayes … has an older brother David, Jr. (24) and a younger sister Tyler (16) … earned his degree in criminal justice major.
