Pat Kimutis
- Title:
- Volunteer Assistant Coach
Pat Kimutis, a four-year starter at Duquesne who batted a team-high .361 as a senior in 2008, is in his first season as a volunteer assistant coach at Temple. Kimutis added a team-high four triples and knocked in 31 runs to lead the Dukes to the Atlantic 10 Tournament for the first time since 2005 last spring.
"Pat worked hard to be a solid Atlantic 10 player," Valli said. "We expect him to bring that same passion for the game into his coaching style. He will be a tremendous asset to Temple Baseball."
"I'm ecstatic to be given the opportunity to work with a program so committed to excellence," Kimutis said. "In speaking with Coach Valli, I got a sense of his motivation, determination, and passion that he brings to the team. I feel I'll be a valuable asset to the program, because I just recently finished playing in the Atlantic 10 Conference, so I'll have first-hand knowledge and experience that I will be able to offer the players."
Kimutis set career-highs in nearly every statistical category last season, posting new marks for batting (.361), runs (25), hits (44), doubles (10), triples (4), RBI (31), slugging (.582) and on-base percentage (.451). He had an outstanding 2008 Atlantic 10 Tournament, batting .500 (7-for-14) with five RBI in Duquesne's deepest foray in the A-10 Tournament to date.
The Washington, PA native (Trinity HS) started 130 games over his four year career, batting .274 with 122 career hits. He had 22 doubles, 11 triples and 12 home runs for the Dukes. The 11 triples are third all-time at Duquesne.
His brother-in-law, Scott Koskoski, is the associate athletic director for development at Temple.
