Anastasia Halbig enters her third year as a Graduate Assistant Coach after joining the Temple women’s gymnastics staff in 2015.
Graduating from Rutgers University in May of 2015 with a degree in psychology and completing a master’s in counseling psychology at Temple, Halbig will now work for her doctorate in sport psychology.
Halbig was a four-year letter winner with the Rutgers University gymnastics team where she played a key role to numerous success for the Scarlet Knights such as the program’s highest team score set in her senior season. In 2014, Halbig was named the most improved gymnast of the year during her junior season for showing the most growth and reaching three career bests. Halbig wrapped up her career at the Big Ten Championships in Ann Arbor, Michigan posting a 9.8 on the balance beam (her high on the event stands at a 9.875).
Before her time at Rutgers, Halbig competed with Berks Gymnastics in Reading, Pa., for four years where she was a two-time Junior Olympic national qualifier. During her club competition years, she was an Indiana State Champion Level 4 and a Pennsylvania State Champion Levels 6-9.
Prior to Temple University, Halbig coached in a variety of settings with gymnasts of all ages. She spent three summers coaching the Rutgers University Gymnastics Camp and another summer with the gymnastics camp at the University of Pennsylvania. Halbig spent time in May, 2010 mentoring young gymnasts overseas in Sweden.
Halbig is originally from Pipersville, Pa. and currently resides in Philadelphia.
