Kim Parsons is in her first season as the assistant women’s gymnastics coach on Aaron Murphy’s staff. Fresh off helping Massachusetts Institute of Technology take first place at the NAIGC National Championships in 2011, Parsons takes over as the balance beam coach, while assisting with vault and floor for the Temple Owls.

In addition to those duties, she is responsible for preparing workout assignments along with strength and conditioning.

While guiding M.I.T. to a championship title, she devised and implemented daily workouts, performed spotting, prepared strength and conditioning sets and organized the team’s meet schedule.

Since 2007, Parsons has had the opportunity to work with world-renowned coaches and gymnasts at the Woodward Gymnastics Camp in Woodward, Pa. From 2007-2010, she served on the master staff as the gymnastics instructor before being promoted as a director of the gymnastics program in the summer of 2011. During her time at the camp, she instructs gymnasts of all levels (USAG Level 4 through Elite) on all events. Parsons also assists the gym staff, which consists of 30 coaches and anywhere from 200-300 gymnasts per week.

As a former Colonial Athletic Association Scholar Athlete, Parsons competed as a gymnast at James Madison University, where she graduated in 2010 with a B.A. in History. Before arriving at Temple, she completed her M.A. in Teaching at Boston University (2011), where she concentrated on Social Studies on the secondary level.

A native of Stoughton, Mass., Parsons currently resides in Drexel Hill, Pa.
