Philadelphia (October 16) - The Temple Owls' field hockey team fell victim to No. 6
Old Dominion, 8-1, today at Geasey Field.
Jessica Grisafi (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) had tied the game 1-1
for the Owls at 30:33 before the Monarchs scored a flurry of goals.
Marjolijn van der Sommen (Leiden, Netherlands) and Marina DiGiacomo
(Mendoza, Argentina) each scored a hat trick for the winners.
For Temple, ODU represented the sixth top 20 team the Owls have faced
this season, including North Carolina, Maryland, Duke, Ball State and
Syracuse.
After this Tuesday's game with Penn at 3:30 p.m. on Geasey Field, Temple
will turn its attention to Atlantic 10 competition where the Owls will
finish out the season at Rhode Island (Oct. 23), at Massachusetts (Oct.
24) and home with St. Joseph's (Oct. 27). The Owls are currently in
first place with a 2-0 mark after wins over La Salle and West Chester,
and they will look to secure a berth in the Atlantic 10 Tournament, in
which only the top four teams qualify.
