Temple Slips Past Rhode Island

Kingston, R.I. - The visiting Temple Owls scored on a defensive corner after time expired to top Rhode Island, 2-1, Saturday afternoon.

The game clock expired as Temple played out a corner with the score tied at one, but the officials called another corner. The second corner for Temple ended in yet another corner, resulting in a game-winning goal by Temple's Michelle Murawski.

Temple scored the first goal of the game with just over two minutes remaining in the first half, when Juliann Leskiw knocked it in off an assist from Jessica Jaworski.

Angela Bashore put the Rams on the board in the second half off a Heather Lockhart assist. Serene McGrath picked up the win in goal for Temple with nine saves, while Amanda Herlya and Jackie Pizzi split time in goal for the Rams, combining for five saves.

Rhode Island fell to 6-10, 2-2 with the loss. Temple improved to 6-11, 3-0.
