Men's Basketball Soars Over Athletes In Action, 94-51

PHILADELPHIA (November 7)-- The Temple Owls opened the 1999-2000 exhibition season
with a 94-51 victory over Athletes in Action. First-year sophomore Alex
Wesby led the way for the Owls with 23 points after connecting on
5-of-12 three pointers. He led five Owls in double figure scoring. Ron
Rollerson grabbed 11 rebounds to go with 17 points.
The Owls maintained a double digit lead for most of the game and led
41-31 at the half. Leading 63-47 with 8:47 to play, Wesby, senior guard
Quincy Wadley and junior Rouldra Thomas extended the lead to 92-51 with
nine three-point baskets.
Temple played the entire game without point guard Pepe Sanchez, who was
resting a sprained ankle, and guard Lynn Greer, forward Lamont Barnes
and center Kevin Lyde who were suspended for one game after violating an
unspecified team rule.
The Owls will wrap up their exhibition season on Monday, Nov. 15 at 7:00
p.m. when Temple hosts the Down Under Bandits, an Australian touring
team.
