North Carolina Takes Temple Invitational with Victory over the Owls

Philadelphia (Sept. 12) - North Carolina (4-1) defeated the host Temple Owls (1-3), 4-0, to clinch the 1999 Temple Invitational at Geasey Field today. In the consolation game, Michigan State defeated Louisville, 1-0.
UNC's Kristen McCann led the Tar Heels with two goals. Teammates Carrie Lingo and Abby Martin also added goals. Abbey Woolley assisted McCann on a goal in the first period. For the Owls, goalie Serene McGrath stood out with 22 saves.
For North Carolina this was the seventh straight Temple Invitational title.
Temple will next be in action at home on Wednesday, September 15 at 3:30 p.m. on Geasey Field against Delaware.
