Richmond Field Hockey Defeats Temple 2-1

RICHMOND, Va. (Sept. 26) -- The University of Richmond Spiders improved their record

to 6-4 this afternoon with a 2-1 victory over visiting Temple at Crenshaw

Field in Richmond, Va., this afternoon. With the victory, Richmond

improved to 6-4 while Temple dropped to 1-8.

The Spiders struck first, with Heather Rice (Oklahoma City, OK) scoring

her eighth goal of the season off of a Kristin Gavin (Roseland, NJ) pass

with 28:58 to go in the first half. Temple answered back as Juliann Leskiw

knocked in a pass from Kacy Ziomek with 9:01 remaining in the first half.

The score remained locked at one apiece until Megan Conway's (Forty Fort,

PA) game winning goal with 11:38 remaining in regulation. Brooke Fuller

(Ashland, MA) earned the win with her eight saves during the match.
