SYRACUSE, NY (Sept. 5, 1999) -- The Temple field hockey team fell, 3-1, to Ball State in a contest played at Syracuse.

The Owls (0-2) tied the game at 1-1 in the first period on a corner by senior Jill Polmateer. Ball State's Sally Northcroft, who scored her team's goal in the first half, answered twice more in the second period to win the game.

Temple goalie Serene McGrath turned away 14 shots on goal.

The Owls will look for their first win of the season when they host Louisville on Sept. 11 at 11:00 a.m. on Geasey Field in the Temple Invitational. UNC and Michigan State will play at 1:00 p.m. On Sunday, the consolation game will be played at 11:00 a.m. and the championship game at 1:00 p.m.
