ST BONAVENTURE, New York (AP) -- J.R. Bremer's 3-pointer
with two seconds left capped a wild game as St. Bonaventure made
a statement in the Atlantic 10 Conference with a 57-56 upset of
Temple.
Despite a record that improved to 12-2 and 4-0 in the
conference, St. Bonaventure has been slow to receive its share
of respect. But the Bonnies rallied from an 11-point halftime
deficit and moved into first place in the A-10 East.
Bremer and David Messiah Capers led St. Bonaventure with 14
points apiece. The Bonnies made just 18-of-45 shots but sank
13-of-27 3-point attempts.
Mark Karcher scored 16 points and Quincy Wadley added 13 for
Temple (9-4, 3-1 A-10). The Owls had a chance to win the game
in the final two seconds but were unable to get a shot off.
The game was halted late in the second half when fans throwing
food on to the court irritated Owls coach John Chaney so much
that he drew a technical foul. The Bonnies were then assessed a
technical for their fans.
