Field Hockey Defeats Rutgers, 3-2, in Final Home Game of Season

Temple field hockey defeated Rutgers, 3-2, in their final home game of the
season today. It was a two women scoring race between the teams.
Senior Julie Martinez (Upper Moreland, Pa./Upper Moreland) was a scoring
machine for the Owls. Her two unassisted goals in the first period came at
29:32 and again at 26:33. Andschana Mendes scored for Rutgers with 10:16 left
in the first half.
Mendes added another goal with 20:40 left in the game for Rutgers, but there
was no stopping the Cherry and White. Martinez added her final goal of the
game for Temple with 6:25 left in the game to secure the win.
Temple will next be in action on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 1:00 p.m. at West
Chester in an Atlantic 10 Conference game.
