Four Unanswered Goals Lifts Penn State to a 7-2 Win Over Field Hockey

State College, Pa., October 4, 2000 - Four unanswered goals by the No. 6 Penn State field
hockey team lifted the Lady Lions to a 7-2 win over Temple on Wednesday at Bigler Field. Junior
Kiley Kulina and true-freshman Neilye Stoner each tallied twice in the blowout.
Kulina (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) started the onslaught with back-to-back goals in
the first 15 minutes of the game to put Penn State (9-2) ahead, 2-0. Junior Meredith
Shulzitski's (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) and Stoner's (Manheim, Pa./Hempfield) first goal
put the game out of reach, 4-0.
Temple (4-7) finally got on the scoreboard with less the ten minutes to play in the first half.
Michelle Murawski connected on a penalty corner to cut into the Penn State advantage, 4-1. Kacy
Ziomek and Hailey Dervinis both assisted on the play.
Two more scores before the end of the half extended the lead to 6-1.
In the second period, the Owls tallied first with nine minutes left in the game. But Penn State
responded four minutes later to push the advantage back up, 7-2.
Penn State returns to Big Ten action on Saturday, October 7. Indiana will visit Bigler Field with
game time set for 3 p.m.
