Men's Basketball Wins Exhibition Opener

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple men's basketball team opened the exhibition season with a 90-62 win over the California East All-Stars at the Liacouras Center Sunday afternoon, November 5.
The Owls opened the game with a 9-0 run and were never threatened. Temple was led in scoring by senior Quincy Wadley (23 points, 3 rebounds). Other double figure scorers for the home team were junior Alex Wesby (22 points, 9 rebounds), Lynn Greer (15 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists) and Ron Rollerson (10 points, 8 rebounds). The Owls also tallied 11 steals in the contest (Mamadou Barry 3, Wadley 2, Greer 2, Rollerson 2, David Hawkins 1 and Greg Jefferson 1).
The California East All-Stars were led by University of Southern Illinois product Rashad Tucker (14 points, 6 rebounds) and former Northeastern standout Steve Carney (11 points, 7 rebounds). Former University of Maryland guard, Terrell Stokes, a native of Philadelphia, led the visitors in assists with 7.
Next up for Temple is another exhibition game vs. the London Leopards (November 8 at 7:30 p.m.) as game two of a men's and women's doubleheader.
