Three Field Hockey Players Named to Atlantic 10 Conference All-Championship Team

PHILADELPHIA (Nov. 8) - Temple Field Hockey's Julie Martinez, Michelle
Murawski and Kacy Ziomek were named to the Atlantic 10 Conference
All-Tournament team for their play in the Atlantic 10 Championships this
past weekend, it was announced yesterday.
Kacy Ziomek had the game winning goal as the Owls defeated Rhode Island, 4-3, in triple overtime on Saturday, Nov. 4, in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament. The University
of Massachusetts downed the Cherry and White on Sunday, Nov. 5, in the
championship game.
Senior forward Julie Martinez (Upper Moreland, Pa./Upper Moreland)
scored Temple's first goal against Rhode Island. Her stellar play
through 10 games helped her end her season with nine goals, one assist
and three game winning goals, with a total of 19 points. Martinez
finished sixth in overall scoring in the Atlantic 10. She finished
second in Atlantic 10 scoring with four goals, one assist and one game
winning goal, a total of nine points.
Senior back Michelle Murawski (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) ended
the season with two goals, two assists, four defensive saves
and one game winning goal, a total of six points. Murawski was also
named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference team this year.
Junior midfielder Kacy Ziomek (Sweet Valley, Pa./Lake Lehman) finished
the season with six goals, seven assists and a total of 19 points.
Ziomek finished seventh in overall scoring in the Atlantic 10. She
finished fourth in Atlantic 10 scoring with two goals, two assists and
six points. Ziomek added two goals against Rhode Island on Saturday.
She also added the fifth and final penalty stroke to help the Owls
defeated the Rams in order to advance to the championship game against
Massachusetts.
