Damian Richburg Added to Men's Basketball Roster

PHILADELPHIA - Damian Richburg, a walk-on junior college transfer from
Mitchell College in New London, Connecticut, has been added to the
Temple University men's basketball roster, it was announced today by
Head Coach John Chaney. Richburg is currently practicing with the Owls
and is expected to dress for the team's next game, the Atlantic 10
Conference opener at La Salle on Thursday, Jan. 4.
A 6-4, 210-pound junior forward, Richburg enrolled at Temple this past
September and was invited by the basketball staff to attend a walk-on
tryout in October. He played two seasons of basketball at Mitchell
College. As a freshman under Coach Richard Conover in the 1998-99
campaign, he started five games and averaged 13 points and four rebounds
for a team with a 20-9 win-loss record. Last year under Coach Todd
Perez, Richburg started regularly and produced averages of 15 points and
four rebounds for a team that went 15-11 and won its last 11 games
consecutively.
A product of Baltimore, Maryland, Richburg graduated from Baltimore
Patterson High School in 1998. As a prep, he played three years of
varsity basketball under Coach Larry Alexander. Born Dec. 14, 1978,
Richburg is majoring in computer science at Temple.
