6.28.00 | Men's Basketball
The Philadelphia 76ers used the 48th pick of the 2000 NBA draft to select
former Owl Mark Karcher Wednesday night.
Karcher, who declared he was making himself eligible for the draft
following the conclusion of his junior year and the 1999-2000 season, will
join former Owl Aaron McKie on the Sixers' roster.
Karcher becomes the 12th Owl of Head Coach John Chaney's program to
be drafted by an NBA team. The last was Marc Jackson who also left after
his junior year and was selected by Golden State with the ninth pick of the
second round.
Along with McKie, Karcher becomes the sixth Owl on an NBA roster
including Rick Brunson (New York), Eddie Jones (Charlotte), Mark
Strickland (Miami) and Duane Causwell (Miami).
Teammates Pepe Sanhez and Lamont Barnes were not selected in the
2000 draft.
