North Carolina Takes Temple Invitational with 6-1 Win Over the Owls

PHILADELPHIA - North Carolina defeated the host Temple Owls, 6-1,

at Geasey Field to win their eighth straight Temple Invitational

Tournament.

The Owls came on strong in the opening minutes of the game as Virginia

Gonzalez (Reading, Pa./Twin Valley) scored with 22:39 left in the first

half. Led by Kristen McCann who scored four goals, the Tar Heels began

to play their game after the Owls scored. Abby Martin and Lizzy Duffy

also added one goal each for North Carolina. Kate Sidebottom, Abby

Martin and Erin Cox added assists for the Tar Heels.

Temple will next be in action on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at Delaware at

3:30 p.m. Their next home game is on Saturday, Sept. 16 at noon.
