OWLS FALL TO WEST CHESTER 2-1 IN SEASON FINALE

10.27.01 | Field Hockey

Philadelphia-- The Temple women's field hockey team (8-11, 2-3 A-10) lost to West Chester University 2-1 in a hard fought game on Saturday afternoon at Geasey Field. With the loss, it is almost certain that Temple will be eliminated from the Atlantic 10 Championships next weekend.

Both teams got on the board early with West Chester's Kate Randall scoring just four and a half minutes into the game and Temple's Joann Engedstrom scoring two minutes later. The Owls goal was assisted by Emily Moyer and Haley Dervinis. West Chester answered back with another goal by Kate Randall at the 22:06 mark to make it 2-1.

The Owls defense came on strong in the second half keeping West Chester from getting a shot on goal but it was not enough to notch the win. Senior goalie April Herman had two saves while Erin Conroy had one.

Temple now has to wait for Richmond to play in order to hear their fate. Only if Richmond loses both games against UMass and Rhode Island will the Owls advance to the A-10 Championships next weekend
