AARON MCKIE HONORED AT DEC. 20 OWLS, MEMPHIS GAME
12.18.01 | Men's Basketball
Philadelphia 76ers guard and former Temple standout Aaron McKie will receive the Temple Owls Club's inaugural Distinguished Professional Athlete Award at halftime of Temple's Dec. 20 game against the Memphis Tigers at the Liacouras Center.
The game will also feature a match-up between All-America candidate Lynn Greer, of Temple, and Dajuan Wagner, a Camden, NJ native and Memphis freshman. Also returning to Philadelphia will be Tigers Head Coach John Calipari, who formerly coached the University of Massachusetts against the Owls.
McKie started for Temple from 1991 to 1994 and was the 1993 Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Year. Honored as the NBA's "Sixth Man of the Year," for his performance last season, McKie is known for being a great clutch shooter, and for his skill as a great "on-the-ball" defender.
During his distinguished Temple career, McKie scored 1, 650 points, averaging 17.9 points per game in 92 appearances as an Owl.
