PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Marvin O'Connor and Jameer Nelson each scored 17 points as St. Joseph's gained a 71-62 victory over Temple on
Tuesday night, gaining its sixth straight win and claiming the season series with the Owls.
Na'im Crenshaw had 12 points and Bill Phillips added 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Hawks (20-4, 10-1 Atlantic 10), who have won 14 of
their last 15 and swept the regular season series with the Owls for the first time since 1985-86.
Kevin Lyde had 16 points and matched a season-high with 15 rebounds, Lynn Greer had 14 points and Alex Wesby and David Hawkins each
had 10 for Temple (14-12, 8-4), which has lost two in a row and are struggling to stay in the hunt for its 12th straight NCAA tournament bid.
The Owls, who had just seven players available at the end of the game after Ron Rollerson left with a sprain of his left foot, scored 12 of the first
16 points of the second half to pull to within five, 41-36.
Crenshaw made back-to-back 3-pointers to extend the Hawk lead to double digits.
The Owls got it to five again, 60-55, when Greer made a deep 3-pointer with 2:51 left but St. Joseph's then scored six of the next seven points to
pull ahead by 10 and gain the win.
