PHILADELPHIA (AP)(March 8) - Quincy Wadley scored 23 points on 8-for-12

shooting as Temple defeated Dayton 76-63 in the quarterfinals of

the Atlantic 10 tournament March 8.

Lynn Greer added 22 points and seven assists and David Hawkins had 14 points for Temple (19-12, 13-4), which will face George Washington in Friday night's semifinal. Tipoff is scheduled for 9 p.m.

Temple has advanced to the semifinals every year since it joined the conference in 1983 and won the tournament championship five times, including last year. The Owls have won five straight games.

Dayton (19-12, 9-8) was dogged by poor shooting and turnovers, while Temple couldn't seem to miss from the field. The Owls shot 54 percent (26-of-48) for the game, while the Flyers were held to a dismal 38 percent (21-of-56).

The Owls never trailed, finishing the first half with a 15-4 run to take a 41-28 lead. Dayton was scoreless for nearly five minutes at the end of the half ending when Tony Stanley made a fast-break dunk at the buzzer.

Temple gave up only one turnover in the first half, while Dayton had 10 turnovers for 14 points in the first.

Late in the game, Temple struggled under Dayton's full-court press, forcing seven Temple turnovers and allowing the Flyers to close to within 64-54 during a 18-5 run.

But Dayton made just three field goals in the final 5:11, and couldn't get closer than 10 in the final minutes.

Tony Stanley led Dayton with 17 points and eight rebounds. Ramod Marshall added 15 points and Nate Green had 11 points.

Brooks Hall, who tied the conference record with seven 3-pointers Wednesday night against Rhode Island, had three 3-point shots for nine points.

Kevin Lyde had 10 rebounds for Temple.

Temple defeated Dayton twice during the regular season and has won five straight against the Flyers.
