PHILADELPHIA -- Basketball player Nehemiah Ingrham of Baldwin High School in Milledgeville, Georgia has signed a national letter of intent to attend Temple University in the fall of 2001, it was announced today by Head Coach John Chaney.

Ingram, a 6-8, 220-pound power foward, was a first team All-Middle Georgia and first team All-Region II (5-A Division) honoree in his senior year. The Atlanta Journal and Constitution named him one of the 20 best players in the state of Georgia following a senior year in which he averaged 14 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks per game. Ingram played under the direction of Head Coach James Lunsford at Baldwin High. In th summer prior to his senior season, Ingram was honored as the Most Outstanding Rebounder at the prestigious Five Star All-American Camp.

"(Nehemiah) has had to work hard for everything he has accomplished," said Coach Lunsford. "He has been an outstanding student, player and person and he will do very well at Temple. In regard to his play on the court, Lunsford noted, "He's your typical late-bloomer. He has the potential to be much better in college, because he was growing and developing so rapidly throughout his high school career."

"We are very excited about Nehemiah's decision to attend Temple University," said Chaney. "He will have an immediate impact and contribution to our program. Our visit to his home was extremely encouraging. His entire family was both unique and very special to all of us."

Ingram is the first signee for the Owls this spring. During the early signing period last fall, Temple inked another 6-8 power forward, Glen Elliott of Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida, along with 6-4 point-guard Nile Murry of Klein Forest High School in Houston, Texas.
