8.28.01 | Men's Basketball

Temple's Lynn Greer pitched in with nine points as Team USA remained unbeaten (5-0) with a 91-62 come-from-behind win against previously unbeaten Great Britain (3-1). The win put the U.S. alone at the top of Group K standings as Team USA will close the medal quarterfinals round against South Korea on August 28 at 7:00 p.m. (Local Time). The top team from Group K will then advance to the medal semifinals scheduled for August 30 and the finals will be contested on August 31.

Trailing 20-14 at the end of the first quarter for the first time in the World University Games, the red, white and blue turned to Roger Mason, Jr. (Virginia) to fuel a 29-8 second quarter barrage to take a 43-28 halftime lead. Mason scored 11 of his 14 second quarter points in a 13-3 run to open the second period fueling Team USA's comeback.

Great Britain never seriously threatened in the third quarter as USA extended their lead to 32 points, 72-40, entering the fourth quarter.

With the win, the U.S. improved its winning streak at the World University Games to 45, dating back to 1989.
