Owls Win Home Opener Against Ursinus

Joann Engestrom (Middletown, Md./Towson Univ.) scored her second goal of the young season with 15:50 left in the second half to give the Owls (2-0, 0-0) a 2-1 victory in their 2001 home opener against Ursinus.

The teams traded goals in the first half as Ursinus took a 1-0 lead following a Jess Shellaway goal with 18:50 left in the first half. Temple tied the score with 9:18 remaining before halftime as freshman, Andrea Duva (Kennett Square/Unionville) scored her first career goal for the Owls.

The Owls kept constant pressure on the visitors as Temple peppered Ursinus goalkeeper Nicole Monatesti with 17 shots on goal. Conversely, Lady Owls goalkeeper, senior April Herman (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) faced just three shots, stopping two in route to the Owls second consecutive win out of the gate.
