FIELD HOCKEY SUFFERS FIRST LOSS TO NORTH CAROLINA

The Temple Owls field hockey program (4-1, 0-0) lost a hard-fought contest to No. 1 ranked North Carolina in the championship game of the Temple Tournament, 4-1 at Geasy Field.
The Tar Heels took a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals by Abbey Woolley and Kelsey Keeran. Temple senior goalkeeper April Herman (Lancaster, Pa/Conestoga Valley) kept the Owls in the game recording 15 first half saves.
The Owls trimmed the margin to 2-1 on a goal by senior Jessica Grisafi (Lancaster, Pa/Conestoga Valley) with 22:48 left, but North Carolina proved too much, scoring two goals late in the contest to win an entertaining game, 4-1.
